The scope of our work includes the historical audit of all telecommunications billings, as well as suggested steps to reduce future costs. State and Federal statutes determine the maximum amounts of time for which we can recover overbilling from vendors. For example, some States limit recovery on local, data and wireless billings to three years. The Federal Statute for overbilling applies to all long distance charges and allows for two year's recovery. Time is of the essence to commence an audit quickly as laws prohibit recoveries once statutes expire. Our extensive work experience in the field suggests the possibility that we may discover fraudulent billing in the process of reviewing the billings. There is no State or Federal statute limiting the time for which a claim for fraudulent billing may be made. We will file claims for any billings deemed to be fraudulent in nature dating back to the commencement of the charges. Accordingly, we will direct our efforts to auditing local, data and wireless bills to three years' history, and long distance to two years. An audit timeline is included in our Scope of Work. Adherence to the timeline will depend, in large part, on cooperation by the various service carriers and on timeliness of vendors and your business in producing requested information. All claims for adjustment or refund/credit will be submitted to your business for review and approval prior to the submission to the respective telecom vendor(s). An important aspect of the project is the thorough review of all documentation and areas of service to determine areas of opportunity for cost reductions.
